Supporting Education - Tuition Bursaries

The knowledge that employees bring is vital to ensuring that the people being served are getting the best care possible.  Supporting the education of new professionals is important so we have enough people to deliver care in the future.

The Government of Saskatchewan provides bursaries to students in a number of health-related programs. These bursaries range from $2,000 to $10,000, for up to two years.

For individuals who are not able to access these bursaries, Saskatoon Health Region operates its own bursary program for people enrolled in difficult-to-recruit health care professions.  In exchange for a return-in-service commitment, eligible students may receive a bursary directly from the Health Region.

Facilitating Access to Technology - Computer Purchase

Access to information technology opens many doors for people.  It is a vital tool for people who want to stay in touch with changes in their professional field including allowing access to on-line resources.

The Computer Purchase plan offered by the Health Region provides employees with a loan to purchase a computer. Repayment is done through payroll deduction.

Building Community - Intergenerational Training Sessions

Saskatoon Health Region recognizes the value that workers of all generations bring to the organization.  By combining the experience, skill and commitment of older workers with the new perspectives, enthusiasm and knowledge of younger workers the organization can build strong teams who deliver the best care to the people we serve.

Intergenerational workforce training is one way that we seek to ensure that workers of all generations can work together effectively.  This training program provides leaders in the organization with an opportunity to explore and understand the impact of the intergenerational change and how to lead a diversity of employees.
