Mental Health Therapist

Mental Health Therapists counsel with an emphasis on prevention. They work with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental health. They may also help individuals deal with addictions and substance abuse; family, parenting, and marital problems; suicide; stress management; problems with self-esteem; and issues associated with aging and mental and emotional health.

Training

What: 

Bachelors or Masters Degree in Social Work or Psychology

Where: 

Various universities across Canada including the University of Saskatchewan

How Long: 

4-year Degree in Psychology or Applied Psychology

1 - 2 year Masters Degree in Psychology

 

Entrance Requirements: 
Grade 12

English 30 with an average of 65% or higher
