Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Nuclear Medicine Technologists
may perform tests on patient
samples, prepare
radiopharmaceuticals for
injection into patients, record
test results, or receive, handle,
record, store and measure
radioactive materials. 

Nuclear Medicine Technologists
are employed in hospitals, private
laboratories and research & teaching institutions.

 

Training

What: 
Diploma in Nuclear Medicine Technology

Where: 
Various community technical institutes across Canada including Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) & British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT)

How Long: 
40 weeks at SAIT, followed by 6 weeks of vacation then 50 weeks at a sponsoring hospital for clinical practicum.

Entrance Requirements: 
High School Diploma (minimum average 60%) in English 30, Math A30, B30 and C30;  Chemistry 30; Biology 30 or Physics 30; plus one option of the following:  Language 30, Physics 30, Biology 30, or History 30.
