Occupational Therapist


Saskatoon Health CareersOccupational Therapists (OT) enable patients to take care of themselves and to take part in work and recreation.

Occupational Therapists help people recover from illness or injury, increase their physical or mental function, or prevent disability and maximize independence through designing programs that teach them new ways to do things. They may also design and create specialized equipment.

OTs work in hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centres, community organizations, businesses, schools and universities.

 

Training

What: 
Bachelor Degree and Masters' Degree

Where: 
Various universities in Canada including University of Alberta, University of British Columbia, and University of Manitoba. The Saskatchewan government has purchased spots at the University of Alberta and University of Manitoba for Saskatchewan applicants.

How Long: 
Bachelor Degree – 4 years
Masters’ Degree - 2 years post Bachelor’s Degree

Entrance Requirements: 
Depending on the university, there may be minimum graduating requirements and required high school courses.
